Domain (or domain name) is the unique and unrepeatable address that users write in the browser to find a website on the internet. It is the text translation of the actual numeric address (theIP address) where the page is hosted.

If the webhosting is the land where the house is built, the domain is the postal address that people need to find it.

  1. Second level (or main name): "google". It is the name chosen by the person or company, usually related to their brand.

  2. TLD (top level domain): ".cat". It's termination. There are generics (such as .com, .org, .net) and territorial ones (such as .es, .fr, .cat, .eus).
