The .edu.mx domains are for educational institutions. Who can register it?
When a user is in front of a .edu.mx domain, he has the guarantee of being in contact with an institution of official validity, the same happens when he has contact with a .gob.mx domain, this guarantees that he is in front of a governmental institution within the limits of Mexico.
Who can register .gob.mx Domains?
As previously mentioned, said domain is reserved exclusively for Mexican government entities such as:
- Federal, state and municipal government.
- Public secretariats.
- Government programs.
- Centralized, decentralized, deconcentrated, autonomous organizations.
- Parastatal organizations of the public administration of the Mexican government.
- State and parastatal companies of the Mexican Government.
- Embassies of Mexico.
- Trusts of a public nature.
Requirements
As we mentioned in the previous domain, the institution interested in registering a .gob.mx domain must present a series of requirements to confirm that it is really a governmental institution established in Mexico, such as:
- Copy of an official identification of the legal representative who signs the letter.
Who can register .edu.mx Domains?
We already mentioned who can register this domain, but now we will tell you specifically the institutions that enter this area:
- Educational Institutions that have a registry with the SEP or are incorporated into a University recognized by the Mexican state.
- Schools of Labor Training or Technical Education accredited by a competent Office of the Government of Mexico.
- Institutions dedicated to preschool education that have a registry with the SEP or are incorporated into a university recognized by the Mexican state.
- Institutions dedicated to research that are registered with CONACYT.
To carry out said registration, a series of requirements is necessary, with which it will be confirmed that the applicant is really an accredited educational institution within the country.
Which are the requirements?
- Letter signed only by the Director or legal representative that is mentioned in the official validity to be sent. In case of not being mentioned, it will be necessary to send the appointment that proves you as Director or current legal representative.
- Copy of the Registry before the SEP or copy of the newspaper or official newspaper that accredits it according to the specific case; or where appropriate, a copy of the registration before the CONACYT.
- Copy of an official identification of the legal representative who signs the letter.
How to recover a reserved or closed domain?
This happens in administration changes, when a new owner arrives at the educational institution or government agency.
If it is the case that contact with those responsible for the previous administration has been lost, the new owner has all the right to recover the domain that is already positioned in the company.
